Biography

Edwin Eric Coulter (1182) was born in Weatherboard near Ballarat and was working as a boundary rider at the time of his enlistment on June 19th 1915. Enlisting with the permission of his parents, the 16 year old declared he was 18 and left Melbourne with the 8th Light Horse Regiment on board the Hororata in September. His service in the Middle East passed without major incident but was punctuated by a number of admissions to hospital with mumps, diphtheria and malaria. He returned to Australia on board the Malta in July 1919.
