Biography

Milton Herbert Thomas (SN 2265) was born in Ballarat was a 35 year old shipping agent, married to Margaret, when he enlisted in Perth on February 28th 1916. He was allocated to the 44th Infantry Battalion and embarked on the Miltiades from Fremantle on August 9th, reaching France in November 1916. On August 20th 1917 he died of wounds sustained when a delayed action bomb exploded. He is buried in Westhof Farm Cemetery, Neuve-Eglise, Belgium.
