Biography

Robert Stanley Dixon (SN 1533) born at Skipton, was a 20 year old cabinet maker when he enlisted in Ballarat on October 24th 1914. On February 25th 1915 he embarked aboard the Runic for service with the 14th Infantry Battalion but on reaching Colombo, Ceylon, he was taken ashore due to illness. He was returned to Australia on the Moldavia and was discharged ‘medically unfit, not due to war service’ on June 17th 1915.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Stanley R. Dixon.
