Ivo Harnett Nelson (SN 5715) born at Ballarat, was a 24 year old traveller when he enlisted in Melbourne on February 1st 1916 . He embarked aboard the Port Lincoln on May 4th and by October he was serving with the 14th Infantry Battalion in France. In April 1917 he was wounded in action when he suffered a shrapnel wound to his right arm. When the fighting ceased, he was transferred to the Pay Corps before returning to Australia, on duty, aboard the Suevic. He disembarked at Melbourne on September 10th 1919 and was discharged on November 22nd.
