Biography

George Smith was born in Richmond, but was a milk carter in Ballarat when he enlisted on 27th March 1916. He was 30 years old, and single. He was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 5704. On 20th May 1918 he died of wound received in the Hazebrouck area, and is buried in the Querrieu British Cemetery, France.
