Biography

Charles Richard Lunnon was born in Ballarat East and was a Butcher by trade when he enlisted in the Anzac Cyclist Battalion, Reinforcement 6 on 3 August 1916 at the age of 19. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A30 Borda on 20 October 1916. He disembarked at Plymouth in January 1917 and in August he crossed to France to reinforce the 23rd Battalion. On September 1st 1918 he was wounded in action, suffering a shell wound to his left leg. He was fit to rejoin his battalion on October 28th, just two weeks before the war ended. He returned home on the Devon and disembarked at Melbourne on November 27th 1919.
