Thomas Geoffrey Yates was a single 21 year old driver when he enlisted on the 20th of August 1914 as a Driver with the 1st Divisional Train. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A24 Benalla on the 19th of October 1914.
He returned to Australia on the 2nd of December 1918 and was discharged on the 31st of January 1919 after his period of enlistment had been terminated.
