Biography

Jack Leslie Stephenson was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and a Bank Accountant when he enlisted with the Field Artillery Brigade, Reinforcement 30 on 2 February 1917 at the age of 21. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A15 Port Sydney on 9 November 1917. On 4 January 1918 he marched in to Heytesbury and on 27 March proceeded to France via Southampton. According to his record he completed his service without major incident, illness or injury, returning home to Australia on 1 July 1919.
