Biography

Reginald Alfred Hiscock (SN 21336) born in Melbourne was a 25 year old surveyor’s assistant when he enlisted in Melbourne on May 14th 1917. He embarked from Sydney aboard the Port Lyttleton on June 24th 1918 and sailed to Egypt where he was assigned to the 5th Light Horse Signal Troop. At the war’s end he returned to Australia aboard the Burma, disembarked on August 29th 1919 and was discharged on September 13th.

His brother Norman also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Reg A. Hiscock.
