Biography

Thomas Craig Miller was born in Ballarat and was a Warehouseman by trade when he enlisted in the Army Medical Corps, General Reinforcements on 21 March 1917 at the age of 19. His unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A36 Boonah on 22 October 1918 but during the voyage, spent three days in the ship's hospital suffering from influenza. He reached London on September 27th, six weeks before the fighting was to cease. During the post-war period of returning soldiers to Australia, he served with the Medical Corps preparing the sick and wounded for the return voyage. He returned to Australia on the Cape Verde, disembarking at Melbourne on February 26th 1920.
