Alexander Reid McLachlan (SN 11851) born at Corindhap, was a 24 year old motor mechanic when he enlisted in Ballarat in April 1916. He embarked on June 5th aboard the Afric and sailed to England. In November 1916 he was moved to England to serve as a driver with the 5th Motor Transport Company. Aside from a period in hospital due to tonsilitis, his service passed without major incident. He returned to Australia aboard the Plassy, disembarked on October 25th 1919 and was discharged on December 17th. He also enlisted to serve during World War 2.
