Biography

Leslie Richard Seldon Reed was born in Ballarat, was single and an apprentice fitter and turner when he enlisted in the 6th General (Victorian) Reinforcements on 30 May 1917 at the age of 18. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A30 Borda on 17 July 1918. He was hospitalised for a week influenza in early September. On November 11, 1918 the armistice was signed, effectively ending the war and marketing a victory for the Allies and a complete defeat for Germany.
