Born in Ballarat, Charles Edwin Murfett was a married 44 year old engine driver at the time of his enlistment on the 30th of May 1917. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A71 Nestor on the 21st of November 1917.
Charles returned to Australia on the 16th of May 1919, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 8th of August 1919.
