Biography

Harry Vivian Skelton Sleep (SN 4694) was born in Ballarat and educated at Ballarat College. He was a 43 year old unmarried grazier from Longwarry when he enlisted on June 20th 1917. He embarked from Sydney with the 4th Light Horse Regiment in late April 1918 on board the Port Darwin. Just before the Armistice, while serving with the Remount Unit in Egypt, he became ill with malaria and pneumonia and was admitted to the Stationary Hospital at Abassia, in Cairo. He died on December 30th 1918 following a relapse and is buried in Cairo War Cemetery, Egypt.
