Biography

Leslie Worthington was born in Ballarat, but enlisted in Bendigo on 27th March 1918. He was grouped with the 2nd General Service Recruits and embarked for the UK for further training. The voyage was via the Panama Canal. Pte Worthington attempted to break ship in New York harbour but misjudged his step and fell on the dock and the into the harbour. His body was not recovered for a day. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, USA.
