Biography

Herbert Stanley Heath was born in Ballarat and was a Fitter and Inventor by trade when he enlisted in the October 1917 Reinforcements on 31 October 1917 at the age of 31. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on 22 December 1917. . In March 1918, shortly after disembarking at Southampton, he was admitted to the Central Military Hospital at Aylesbury suffering from influenza. He served through the remainder of the war without significant incident, although he was troubled by jaundice and chronic rheumatism after the war. He returned to Australia on the Kaiser-i-Hind, reaching Melbourne on June 16th 1919.
