Biography

George Richard Bowers (SN 48) from Nelson Street in Ballarat, was a 37 year old carpenter when he enlisted on November 19th 1917. He joined the Australian Army Ordinance Corps and embarked from Adelaide on January 5th 1918, aboard the Borda. He spent six months in England, based at Woolwich, before being moved to France in late September for the final weeks of the war. He left England in September 1919 on the Port Denison and disembarked at home on November 13th.
