Biography

Born in Redan, Ballarat, Victoria and a Plumbing trade teacher, Norman Campbell Carmichael was 18 years and single when enlisted on the 23rd of January 1918 in the 6th General (Victorian) Reinforcements, Australian Imperial Force, with the rank of Private, Number 55353. His Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A30 'Borda' on the 17th of July 1918. Appointed Lance Corporal on the 3rd of April 1918. Reverts to Lance Corporal on the 17th of July 1918. Admitted to hospital for Influenza on the 1st of September 1918 and was listed as returned to Australia per 'Suevic' on the 23rd July 1919.
