Biography

Richard Phillip Walters was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was married to Mrs D B Walters of Spring Creek Road, Hepburn Springs, Daylesford, Victoria and was a Railway employee when he enlisted with the June 1918 Reinforcements on 8 February 1918 at the age of 21. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A37 Barambah on 31 August 1918. The armistice was signed less than three months later, essentially ending all major conflict in Europe. He returned to Australia aboard the Valencia on 11 September 1919 and was discharged on 26 September.
