Biography

William Percival Nankervis (SN 3166) born at Ballarat, was a 20 year old engineer when he enlisted in Melbourne on February 9th 1918 . As a 2nd Class Air Mechanic he embarked aboard the Ormonde on March 7th and sailed to England. He served with the Australian Flying Corps in England and avoided serious illness or injury, although on one occasion he was disciplined for playing cards in the barracks at 12.30am. He returned to Australia aboard the Kaiser-i-Hind, disembarked at Melbourne on June 16th 1919 and was discharged on July 16th.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Percival W. Nankervis.
