Biography

Norman Samuel Block was born in Warrnambool, but enlisted from Ballarat on 11th December 1914. He was single, 19 years old and a labourer. He was drafted to the 14th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1574. He was seriously wounded at Gallipoli, and was being evacuated to a hospital on Malta when he died on 8th June 1915. He was buried at sea near Malta, and his name was recorded on the Lone Pine memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
