Biography

Roy Huggins (SN 6522) was born in Warrenheip and attended the Warrenheip State School. He was 20 years old, single and a labourer when he enlisted on July 4th 1916. He was drafted to the 8th Infantry Battalion and left Australia in early October on board the Nestor. The battalion was in the trenches in front of Bapaume, France, when he received a fatal wound and died on February 12th 1917. He is buried in Dernacourt Communal Cemetery, France.
