Charles Lane DeBoos (SN 55602) born in Euroa, was a married 40 year old accountant when he enlisted in Ballarat on April 6th 1918. Assigned to the 7th General Service Reinforcements, he embarked aboard the Marathon on July 23rd and sailed to England. The Armistice was signed before he was deployed to France with the 11th Field Artillery Brigade. Before returning to Australia, he was granted leave in England to enable him to undertake a course in meat and food inspection. He returned to Australia aboard the Euripides, disembarked at Melbourne on October 20th 1919 and was discharged on January 4th 1920.
