Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a farmer by trade, David John Wilson Allen was 29 years and single when enlisted on the 8th of March 1918 with the rank of private from the 9th General (Victorian) Reinforcements from the 5th Battalion, 3rd reinforcements. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A37 'Barambah' on the 31st of August 1918. On the 21st of November 1918 marched into M. Hospital Tidworth Mumps. Appointed acting Corporal on the 31st of August 1918; Corporal on the 31st of August 1918; Private on the 13th of November 1918; acting Corporal on the 6th of January 1919; Private on the 24th of January 1919. Returned to Australia per 'Aeneas' ex England on the 29th of November 1919 and disembarked 9th of January 1920. Discharged from the 3rd Military District on the 1st of February 1920 with the termination of period of enlistment. Tree No: 3604
