Biography

Frederick Linton McFadzean (SN 55660) born in Ballarat, was a 23 year old labourer when he enlisted in Melbourne on April 26th 1918. With the 7th General Service Reinforcements, he embarked aboard the Melbourne on July 23rd and reached London in late September. He was assigned to the 7th Infantry Battalion, but the fighting had ceased by the time he reached France in January 1919. He returned to Australia aboard the Suevic, disembarked at Melbourne on September 10th and was discharged two weeks later.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Frederick L. McFadgeon.
