Francis Thomas Edwards (SN 3540) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old turner and fitter when he enlisted in the Australian Flying Corps on May 16th 1918. He trained as a 2nd Class Air mechanic at Broadmeadows and Laverton. His unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Zealandic on October 5th 1918. He reached France in late December 1918 after the war had ended. He returned to Australia on the Argyllshire, reaching Melbourne on September 22nd 1919 and was discharged on October 17th.
