Biography

Francis Charles Hall was a single 30 year old electrical mechanical engineer at the time of his enlistment on the 15th of May 1916. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A19 Afric on the 5th of June 1916. On August 1st 1916 he was promoted Corporal.
On November 3rd 1917, Francis was promoted Sergeant Artificer, three days later on the 6th of November he was taken on strength with the 4th Division Supply Column. He was appointed Temporary Mechanic Staff Sergeant on the 11th of October 1918, and on the 7th of January 1919 was promoted to Mechanic Staff Sergeant. On March 12th 1918, Francis was taken on strength with the 4th Australian Division Mechanical Transport Company. He returned to Australia on the 4th of January 1920 and was discharged on the 7th of April 1920 due to demobilisation.
