Wilfred John Osborne was born in Daylesford, VIC and was a Clerk in Ballarat when he enlisted in the 11th General (Victorian) Reinforcements on 27 May 1918 at the age of 21. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A37 Barambah on 31 August 1918. His tour was without incident and he received a promotion to 2nd Corporal on 1 May 1919 before returning to Australia on 22 August 1919.
