Biography

David Gordon Walton was born in Burrumbeet, Victoria, was single and a farmer when he enlisted from Ballarat with the 7th General Reinforcements (Victoria) on 10 July 1918 at the age of 19. He embarked per the HMAT Malta on 16 October 1918, disembarking at Suez on 22 November. During his voyage the armistice was signed 11 November, essentially ending all major conflict in Europe. Pte Walton remained in Europe on active duty until returning to Australia aboard the Malta on 7 August 1918.
