Clarence Joseph Power was born in Fitzroy, VIC and was a Labourer living at Campbell's Crescent, Ballarat when he enlisted in the 12th General (Victorian) Reinforcements on 28 June 1918 at the age of 19. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A37 Barambah on 31 August 1918. He proceeded to camp and was later attached to the 58th Battalion before returning home to Australia aboard the Ceramic on 9 August 1919. According to his records he completed his tour fo duty without any major incident, illness or injury.
