Biography

Robert Arthur Burge (SN 68770) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old electrician when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 10th 1918. With the 15th General Service Reinforcements, he embarked from Adelaide aboard the Boonah on October 22nd. By the time he reached Durban, South Africa, the war had ended and the Boonah was recalled. He disembarked back in Australia on December 20th and was discharged on February 5th 1919. He also enlisted to serve during WW2 with service number T23733.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as  
Arthur R. Burge.
