Ivo Ignatius Bibby (SN 69001) born at Ballarat, was a 19 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 29th 1918. With the 16th General Service Reinforcements, he embarked from Sydney aboard the Carpentaria on November 7th. The Armistice was signed just four days later so the Carpentaria was recalled, and Ivo Bibby was discharged on Christmas Eve, December 24th. He later joined the Royal Australian Navy and served on various ships. In June 1938 he joined the crew of Sydney II. He was killed in action on November 20th 1941, when the Sydney was sunk with the loss of all hands by the German raider Kormoran.
