Walter Stanley Dent was born in Flemington, but enlisted in Ballarat on the 4th September 1918. He joined the Australian Railway Company Details, with Regimental No. 2852. He was single, 27 , and a decorator. He became ill during the voyage from Australia to UK. He was hospitalised on the ship and transferred to Brookwood Military Hospital on arrival in UK. He died there on 22nd February 1919 of pneumonia, and is buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery in Surrey, UK.
