Lambertis Johannis Ackroyd was born at Scarsdale but was an 18 year old moulder from Burnbank Street in Ballarat when he enlisted on November 7th 1918, just four days before the guns fell silent. His military training and career lasted just 49 days as he was demobilised on Christmas Eve, December 24th.
