Biography

Robert William Lisson (SN 6772) was born in Hobart, Tasmania, but enlisted in Melbourne on May 8th 1916. The 36 year old, unmarried cook joined the 5th Infantry Battalion and embarked for active service in late October on board the Ulysses. He arrived in France in March 1917 and suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder in April the next year. He didn't rejoin his unit from hospital until early August, but only a week later he was again seriously wounded near Amiens. He died of his wounds on August 10th 1918 and is buried in the Vignacourt British Cemetery, France.
