Norman Crosbie Nicoll (SN 651) was born in Ballarat and attended the Urquhart Street State School. He enlisted at Seymour on March 14th 1916. At enlistment he was a baker, 23 years old and single.
He was posted to the 37th Infantry Battalion and embarked for the battlefields in June. He was gassed and wounded three times before he was killed in action near Passchendaele on 12th October 1917, aged 25. He has no known grave, and his name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
