Alfred Ernest Tucker (SN 6175) was born in Ballarat but enlisted in Sydney as a master builder on May 29th 1916. He was 34 years old and married to Florence. He was posted to the 24th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Sydney aboard the Argyllshire on October 30th. He reached France in May 1917 but on October 5th 1917 he was killed at Broodseinde in Belgium. He has no known grave and his name is on Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Ernest C. Tucker.
