Hamilton Liddiard (SN 7901) born in Ballarat, was a 31 year old battery manager when he enlisted in Melbourne on April 12th 1917. Assigned to the 3rd Tunnelling Company he embarked aboard the Nestor on November 21st and sailed to England. He crossed to France in March 1918 and his time there seemed to be without significant injury, illness or trouble. Immediately after the war he was granted leave to enable him to undertake a course in metallurgy at the Polytechnical Institute in London and he was discharged in London on December 27th 1919.
