Frederick Lachlan Horsley (SN 63752 ) born in Melbourne, was a 22 year old grazier when he enlisted in Sydney on December 15th 1917. He embarked aboard the Orontes on June 5th and sailed to England where he was attached to the Australian Field Artillery. He did not reach France until two months after the Armistice was signed. He was granted six months leave without pay so he could return to Australia, via America, at his own expense. He returned aboard the Sonoma, disembarked at Sydney on December 2nd 1919 and was discharged on December 17th .
