William Albert Watkins was born in Brighton, Victoria, he was single and at the time of enlistment was employed as a Farm Labourer. He enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 22. He volunteered and was stationed with the 4th Light Horse Regiment, 7th Reinforcement with the Regimental number 1126. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 17th of July 1919.
