Charles Henry Dennent Goddard was born in Ballarat West and enlisted from there on 20th January, 1915. He was 19, single and a coach painter. He joined the 14th Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 1945. He was promoted Corporal during his service. He was killed in action at Mericourt on the 8th August 1918, and is buried in Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France.
