Biography

Thomas Jacob Frampton (SN 4806) born in Ballarat, was a married 29 year old boot finisher when he enlisted in Melbourne on October 12th1915. He embarked aboard the Wiltshire on March 7th 1916 and in June he reached France to serve with the 60th Infantry Battalion. He was wounded at Fromelles on July 19th and was unable to rejoin his unit until March 1917. In September 1917 he was wounded again but not so seriously. He was transferred to the 59th Battalion for the final months of the war, avoiding further wounds. He returned to Australia aboard the Orontes, disembarked at Melbourne on June 28th1919 and was discharged soon after.
