Harold Reece Dalton (SN 8202) born in Ballarat was a 21 year old clerk when he enlisted on February 9th 1917. He trained at Royal Park and then joined the Engineering Reinforcements at Seymour. His unit embarked from Melbourne aboard the Indarra on November 26th 1917. In March he crossed over to France where he served out the final year of the war with the 2nd Australian Tunnelling Company. He returned to Australia on the Main, disembarking at Melbourne on October 11th 1919 and was discharged November 10th.
His brother Norman also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
