Biography

Alfred Alexander Nunn (SN 1089) born in Haddon, was a 22 year old farmer when he enlisted in Ballarat on June 18th 1915. Assigned to the 8th Light Horse Regiment he embarked aboard the Malakuta on September 23rd and sailed to Egypt. He served in the Middle East where he had some minor health issues but avoided battle wounds. He returned to Australia aboard the Malta, disembarked at Melbourne on August 7th1919 and was discharged on October 6th.

His brother William also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Alex. A Nunn.
