Biography

Alfred Charles Williams was a single 19 year old labourer when he enlisted on the 22nd of February 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A14 Euripides on the 10th of May 1915. On the 20th of June 1916 he was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to his thigh. He rejoined his unit on the 2nd of December 1916. He was wounded in action on a second occasion on the 16th of May 1918 but again recovered and rejoined his unit on the 10th of July 1918. Alfred returned to Australia on the 26th of May 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 25th of July 1919.
