Biography


Stanley James Nichol was a married 21 year old builder who was ranked as a Lieutenant on his enlistment on the 10th of November 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on the 18th of November 1915. On November 1st 1916 he was promoted to Captain. Stanley was wounded in action on the 26th of April 1918 with a gunshot wound to his left elbow. He was awarded the Military Cross for his æconspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty'. He was invalided to Australia on the 24th of October 1918 and his appointment was terminated on the 27th of July 1919.
