Biography

Charles Stanley Robinson (SN 19603) was born and grew up in Melbourne where he enlisted on August 31st 1915. He was 19 years old, unmarried and a clerk. He was posted to the 29th Battery of the 8th Field Artillery Brigade and was promoted to Corporal before embarking from Melbourne in May 1916 on board the Medic. After training in England he arrived in France at the end of 1916 where, on June 15th 1917, he died of wounds sustained in the trenches near Messines. He is buried in Pont d'Achelles Military Cemetery, Nieppe, France.
