Biography

Charles Clark Bell (SN 7444) was a 21 year old, Ballarat born accountant when he enlisted in Melbourne on May 24th 1917. He embarked from Melbourne in November of 1917 on the Nestor. Tonsillitis caused him to be hospitalised in England for a period of time before he joined the 14th Battalion as a reinforcement on July 17th 1918. Just three weeks later, on August 8th, he was killed by machine gun fire at Morlancourt, and is buried in Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France.
