Charles Potter was born in Staffordshire Reef, VIC and was a Grocers Storeman living in Ballarat with his wife Isabella when he enlisted in the General Reinforcements (Victoria) on 8 April 1918 at the age of 40. He trained at Broadmeadows before his unit was demobilized, resulting in his discharge on 24 December 1918. He never made it overseas.
