William Percy Mitchell (SN 61434) born in Ballarat, was an 18 year old jewellers assistant when he enlisted in Geelong on March 23rd 1918. With the 11th General Service Reinforcements, he embarked aboard the Barambah on August 31st and reached London three days after the signing of the Armistice. While awaiting return to Australia he was assigned to the Medical Corps and became a member of the nursing staff on the Cap Verde which reached Melbourne on February 26th 1920. He was discharged on March 20th 1920. He served again in WW2 with service number V80513.
